Since 1992, teams that have had more rushing gates than their opponents are 21-5 in the games of the Gray Cup. The only winning team with a lack of rush in the last eight years was Toronto in 2017; The 16 quick courts of Argos were the smallest ever with a winning team.
Of the 44 reds that played in the Gray Cup in 2016 against the Toronto Ladies, only 13 remained on the list and were available on duty in Edmonton on Sunday: Security Antoine Prunto, Dan West and Jean-Philip Bouloud ; trick Harris; running Brendan Gillander; Jonathan Rose; offensive lineers Alex Mateus, Jason Lazun-Segin, Ion Got and Nolan Macmillan; receivers Greg Ellingson and Brad Sinopoli; defensive lineman Andrew Marshall.
In half already there
Exactly 50 per cent of the Stampers who played in the Gray Cup in 2016 are on the list for this year's match: defending champion Siant Evans, Adam Thybo, Adam Berger, Brandon Smith and Jamar Volt; receivers Lemar Durant and Dzhuvan Breskachin; player Rob Moore, defensive linear Junior Turner, Garev Davis, Mikey Johnson and Derek Wiggane; defensive Bo Levi Mitchell; running supports Charlie Power and William Langlais; kicker René Paredes; linebacker Alex Singleton; offensive lineups Spencer Wilson, Pier-Luc Caron, Shane Bergman, Ukamber Williams and Derek Denis.
Robert Merrée is the only player on both sides who played last year, the Gray Cup in Ottawa, as a member of the Argonauts in Toronto. Murray was also with the Timber-Cats teams in 2013-14 who played and lost the gray games, made by one of only eight players from the 21st century who appeared in the CFL final, the third different squad.
Tales of circulation
Teams with fewer turnovers (interceptions, holes and falls) have a combined record of 46-5 in the 1952 Gray Cup games. The changes were as many as 15 other matches.
Work with balls
Since 2005, teams with more offensive possession are 12-1 in the Gray Cup games. The only exception was Calgary at the 2017 competition in Ottawa.
Beasts from the East
East Division officials won the last three Gray Cup matches in Edmonton (Toronto, 47-23 over Saskatchewan in 1997, Montreal 25-16 over Edmonton in 2002, Montreal 21-18 over Saskatchewan in 2010). This year marks the first time the Ottawa franchise played a Gray Cup match in the capital of Alberta.
Head to head
In 10 matches of the regular season of 2014, the Stamps have seven wins, two links and a single loss against Redblacks. However, Ottawa won the only mid-season average, 39-33 in the overtime period in 2016, the Gray Cup in Toronto.
Passing a sword
In the Gray Championship season in 2016, there were record-breaking total yards for both teams: 852. Henry Bourtis of Otawa scored 461 meters, while Bo Levi Mitchell of Calgary threw 391 meters.
