Merck won European approval for the first Ebola vaccine

Merck & Co Inc received approval from the European Commission for the marketing of the Ebola vaccine on Monday, less than a month after a European panel of medicines backed the first vaccine against the deadly virus.

The Hervebo vaccine has been approved for people aged 18 and over and is already being used under emergency guidelines to try to protect against the deadly outbreak of Ebola in the Democratic Republic of Congo. (Reporting by Sauma Sibi Joseph in Bengaluru; Editing by Sriraj Kaluvila)
