A man is dead after apparent shooting in Surrey, police confirmed on Friday night.

Surrey RCMP descended to the neighborhood of Fraser Heights just after 5 am. after several reports of shots in the area of ​​176th Street and Abbey Drive.

Police said a man was found wounded by wounded gunmen, but was found dead at the scene despite efforts to revive him. It is believed that the man was in his 20s.

"We still could not identify it, so we do not know if it's connected to this neighborhood or if it was brought here and then fired," Surrey RCMP Insp. Dale Carr said.

Although it can not relate shooting to gang activities or any other murder, RCMP said it appears to be targeted. No suspects have been placed in custody and the description is not available.

Over a dozen police vehicles remain on stage, with officers along with police dogs searching for up and down property Abbey Drive.

Investigators for murder have also been called to the scene, and the helicopter provides surveillance.
