NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – This year, the Christmas Nashville parade could be put down as one of the most controversial parades for the city.
Kid Rock started as a great marshal for a birthday hero.
James Shaw Jr. was elected at the last minute.
Now, the change has triggered a lawsuit against the city.
Mayor Brilli and Kid Rock were arrested at the parade this morning. The two sides say they just want to move through controversy, but what about the suit?
"The courtroom is open five days a week," Brilli told News4. "You know, that's all I can say about it. I'm sure the judge will solve it fairly."
Right now, the whole bunch is a matter of a sign … but the two sides clearly show that they just wanted to focus on the real cause of the parade: support for the children who need it.
Kid Rock and owner of Tootsies were present on the third floor of the bar.
"They want to send a message that they love the city of Nashville," said Brian Lewis, a lawyer for Steven Smith and Kid Rock. "They support the children's hospital and feel this controversy should die to this day. It should be for the children, the children's hospital Vanderbilt and Christmas."
However, some people in Nashville are still upset that they failed to see Kid Rock as a big marshal. Some women even appeared at the event with signs that read "Kid Rock for Mayor".
We asked him what he thinks he was thrown into the middle of the controversy.
"[Rock] is an adult, "said Shaw." He knows what he has to say on television and what he should not say on national television. "
We touched the lawyer Kid Rock for a copy of the lawsuit mentioned for local media and did not hear back.
