Keto diet: a weight loss plan – low-carb recipes for shedding two stones



Keto diet, also known as ketogenic diet, is a popular low-caring diet. A recent study found that diet planners lost more than two stones in half a year. The diet also includes a lot of fat, which is essential for achieving the state of ketosis. Ketosis is a metabolic state in which the body burns for fat, rather than carbohydrates.

A dietary study from the Department of Surgery, Medicine and Physiology, the Medical Faculty and the Allied Health Science School at the Kuwait University found that on average, subjects lost 13.5 kilograms, just over two stones.

In the six-month space the average weight dropped from 101 kg to 87.5 kg.

More importantly, the average BMI dropped from 37.7 to 32.

Scientists found: "The current study shows the beneficial effects of long-term ketogenic nutrition.

"It significantly reduced the bodyweight and body mass index of patients."

Clinical nutritionist Suzie Sawyer describes the keto diet as "very effective for weight loss".

Her ideal diet plan for a keto diet is: "Eggs and bacon for breakfast, lunch for lunch and steamed fish with mixed vegetables for dinner, all that fit into the law."

She added: "You can choose the rate at which you want to lose weight by carefully monitoring the total number of calories you eat on a daily basis.

"For example, if you want to lose a kilogram a week (a reasonable approach), the average size of a lady should eat about 1500 calories a day. About 65 percent of those calories will come from fat."
