Earlier this week, Slide Mad Studios CEO Ian Bell announced that his company is developing a "Mad Box", a new stand-alone video game console for PlayStation and Xbox. Bel has now discovered a few more details about the mysterious platform, including how the early version looks.
The first images of the Mad Box were split into Bell's officer Twitter account, which you can see below. The console looks like a computer, with a tower in the shape of a M and the logo of Little Studio, etched in one side. However, the internal components of the system are unclear in the images, however, as Blair says, the team is "still in discussions" about it. He also notes this is not the "last design".
According to Bell, the crazy box is very lightweight and has a handle for carrying the top so you can easily transfer it. He also says the system "will talk to other crazy boxes without cables," although he does not elaborate further on that.
Bell claims Mad Box is "the most powerful console ever built," stating "it will be equivalent to a very fast computer two years from now." Speaking with Variety, he said the system "will support most major VR headphones" and allow up to 90 frames per second "per eye" for playing virtual reality. He also says the system will offer 4K visual elements.
Pricing and publication of Mad Box details has yet to be announced, but Bell says the system will be shipped around the world in about three years and will be "competitive with upcoming console prices."
