Detroit Lions vs. Carolina Panthers Live Scores & Stats – November 22, 2020 Gametracker

Charlotte, NC (AP) Matthew Stafford has earned a reputation for tough and playing injuries.

The Detroit Lions will need their franchise back to be tough – and stay on the field – if they hope to bounce back 4: 4 early and continue their NFC playoffs

If the Lions are going to run, that should probably happen now.

Detroit is preparing to face three fighting teams in the Panthers, Texas and the Bears, giving them a golden opportunity to build momentum in the last four games of the season.

The first is Carolina, who will be left without the running star to bring back Christian McAfee and eventually the back Teddy Bridgewater, who deals with knee stretching. If Bridgewater sits down, the Panthers will turn to Will Grier or P.J. Walker, who have two combined starts between them at fullback.

But Lions coach Matt Patricia will not overlook Carolina, no matter who plays QB.

“Carolina will be ready,” Patricia said. “It’s a copying league. There are a few things that appear in the game and will appear in the next game or a few games along the way. So, we have to clean up those things and try to improve them. “For us, we just try to stay during the week and make sure we are focused on it, because I think if you look beyond that, you can just get distracted.”

Stafford handles his injury.

He injured his right thumb in the first half of Detroit’s 30-27 victory over Washington last week, but continued to shoot for 276 yards and three touchdowns. X-rays were negative. Stafford rested his thumb on Wednesday but returned to limited exercise on Thursday.

The corner of the lions Amani Oruvarie said that Stafford looks good in practice and appeared as if he did not miss a rhythm.

Bridgewater said on Thursday it was not sure if he would be ready to play.

Panthers coach Matt Rowle said that while QB was making throws in practice, he had not tested his mobility.

“I do not know what we will do until he does,” Rowle said Thursday. “We try to be smart when we do that. He prepares as if he is going to play. “If we get to Sunday and he feels like he can play, then we will play him.”

McCaffrey is not expected to play

Bridgewater’s injury is even more worrying as the Panthers will be back without escaping Christian McAfee, their top offensive playmaker. McAfee will miss his eighth game of the season due to injury – the past two due to an alternating shoulder strain.

McAfee was effective when playing, averaging 124.7 yards from the cut and scoring six touchdowns. The Panzers fought in the red zone without him.

Mike Davis will get it for the McCaffrey start. Davis reached a total of 675 yards and four touchdowns in 2020, but has not been as effective in the Panthers’ last four starts.

QUICKLY Dealing with Consumption

Detroit prepared D’Andre Swift for the second round this year and emerged as the No. 1 team to return last week after setting a season record of 149 yards of courtship on his first start in the NFL. Lions offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell said a few days later that the order to kick in the backfield had been clearly announced to 35-year-old Adrian Peterson.

However, Swift was added to the concussion injury report on Thursday and did not exercise, leaving his play status for Sunday. Peterson and Kerion Johnson would get extra work if Swift is supported.

Swift had a season-high 81 yards and 16 yards and 68 yards, and adjusted for the season with five receptions, including a short that turned it into a 15-yard touchdown victory over Washington. The former Georgia star in Georgia has a rush of 331 yards, averages 4.7 yards per load and has four touchdowns along with 31 catches for 275 and two more results.

Defensive defensive finish Everson Griffen, acquired last month in an exchange with Dallas, had his first bag in his second game with the Lions against Washington. He also made a key game that did not appear in the penalty area, helping to stop the reverse without tackling the tackle.

“Everson has a huge amount of energy,” Patricia told Everson, who has 3 1/2 bags in nine games this season and 78 in his career, ranked 15th among active players.

The defense of the “Panzers” really struggled to get off the field on third falls.

Carolina allows opponents to turn 55.3% of the third negative chances into the highest level in the league. Last week, Tom Brady had 10 of 16 third-chance chances, and the Bucansers had 30 first-half rebounds in a 46-23 Panthers pair.

“We (stink) in that department,” said Panzer striker Rasul Douglas. “We have not been able to do that, while we as a defense need to find a way to do it. I think the coaches put us in positions to get off the field and we do not, including me. ”

The Panthers tried a fake bet in each of the past three games, and two of them resulted in first falls. However, last week’s attempt did not deceive anyone because the bettor e Charlton was fired for a loss of 5 yards in the fourth and 5th, giving the Bacaneri ball to Carolina 40.
