Canadian National Railway conductors, trainers and yards reported a strike ahead of Tuesday's deadline.

The union, which has 3,200 workers, provided 72-hour reporting today as contract negotiations continue over the weekend.

The Teamsters Canada rail conference warned in October that it was ready to launch action after more than six months of failed talks.

The strike could begin at 12:01 pm on November 19th now that the notification has been delivered.

The company says its bid to enter binding arbitration was rejected by the union.

The workers, who are mostly located in major urban centers across Canada, have been without a contract since July 23.
