Nearly 200 passengers BC ferries returned to land after a mechanical issue with the Queen of Alberta stranded them at sea on Tuesday afternoon.
The ship broke down shortly before it was expected to dock at Cavasen at around 2:45 p.m. The problem was in the ship’s equipment box.
The ship finally returned to the terminal around 7 p.m.
BC Ferry spokeswoman Deborah Marshall said a tow truck had been requested but needed time because it was busy with other work.
The passengers were given snacks and drinks while waiting for rescue.
Ferry Ferry canceled the rest of the ship’s scheduled voyages on Tuesday, including the 17:45 and 10:45 voyages from Duke Point and the 8:15 am voyage from Cavassen.
