A patient with suspected measles is isolated at Toledo Hospital

The municipal health ministry is investigating the first case of measles in the municipality. It is a 30-year-old man living in solitary confinement in Toledo, and selective blocking procedures have already been carried out for those who have had contact with him. He has been to Sоo Paulo and Curitiba and began to show symptoms last week.

Epidemiological Nursing Clinic Sarturi warns of disease prevention. "Today we are launching the vaccine for people between the ages of 20 and 29 who have not yet been vaccinated, they should ask the nearest health unit. Measles has already died out in our country and we cannot allow the disease to return. Therefore, we urge the population to strictly follow the vaccination schedule specified by the Ministry of Health. "

Measles is a highly contagious disease, and its transmission is similar to the flu, through respiratory secretions such as sneezing, coughing, among others. It can progress to serious complications, including death, especially in children.

The measles vaccination campaign began on Monday (18) for young people and adults aged 20 to 29 who are not yet vaccinated or who need to fill both doses of the vaccination schedule. Vaccination is done in all primary care units, it is important to update the vaccination card.
