As of Friday, something challenging has been circulating on social media. We see a teacher from the Sint-Godeliv Institute in Lenik, Flemish Brabant, forcibly expelling a student from her class.
According to the information from our colleagues in HLN, tensions arose between the teacher and her student because the young girl wanted to eat a cookie in class. The student ended up in the hallway, something she did not accept and allegedly tried to return to the classroom. The teacher then allegedly lost her temper and started becoming more violent towards the teenager. She allegedly punched him and pushed the student and pulled his hair, reports Hat Laatste News. In the video we see another young woman who tried to intervene. The scene was filmed by attending students, and shared on social media.
Asked by our Flemish colleagues, the director of the institution Live De Smet assured that the management took the incident very seriously. “We organized a crisis meeting. We heard from the teacher and the student, but also from the parents. “Things that should not have happened seem to have happened on both sides.”
The director also condemned the broadcast of the series on social networks. “Filming students should be aware that they have violated the privacy of those who filmed them. “This also applies to young people who broadcast videos.”
