Health associations require strict isolation of patients to avoid new closures

At the forum, Frans Asos Sante – who unites 85 healthcare user associations – and doctors are appealing to Emmanuel Macron: for successful deconfiguration, patients need to be better isolated.

Their goal is: “to avoid a new closure.” Their proposal: systematic isolation of patients and cases of contact in optimal conditions in order to implement this measure. The organization France Asos Sante – which unites 85 associations of health users – and the doctors sign a column published this Monday night in The Parisian in order to present their concept of successfully reducing closure, a few hours after the long-awaited speech by Emanuel Macron.

“Test, trace, isolation”

The signatories of the forum want to avoid the answer in the form of “stop and go”, which is to say alternation of restrictions and freedoms depending on the number of cases of Covid-19.

“The challenge will be to prevent a recurrence of the epidemic when people go shopping for Christmas and meet for the holidays. It will simply be the result of two measures: despite the continuation of certain activities, you will need to maintain a sufficient physical distance. “For people who become infected, it will be necessary to apply the ‘test, trace, isolation’ strategy in conditions where people will agree to be isolated,” Axel Kahn, the platform’s co-signer, told BFMTV.

Frans Asos Sante calls for the “establishment of a complete restriction on the movement and visitation” of patients and their cases of contact, “under control” for up to 15 days. To encourage them to respect this isolation, the organization offers to support them by “offering a protected space that is accessible to them according to their needs and taking into account their living conditions.”

Thus, it is a matter of maintaining wages or salaries during isolation, “providing a comfortable place to live” with “a permanent relationship with a support person responsible for providing access to care, materials, comfort and maintaining family ties” .

“Consistency and clarity”

According to the signatories, this support must go hand in hand with the policy of “large-scale” antigen screening, the larger deployment of the #TousAntiCovid application and the continued application of barrier gestures. Determined to avoid a third prison, Frans Asos Sante insists:

“Better strict individual restriction of movements and contacts, accompanied by good protection for a few days, in a safe environment, than a newly generalized and long-term closure of the entire population, in the face of high collective risks.

The government has already reviewed the conditions for getting out of this second prison, by reducing the restrictions in three phases: around December 1, then before the Christmas holidays and finally at the beginning of 2021. The head of state promised that it would give “consistency, clarity, course” so that “together we know where we are going and how to get there”. It remains to be seen whether his model will be followed by the one proposed by France’s Asos Sante.
