It is the city that announces the sad news this morning through a press release: “It is with great sadness that we learn of the disappearance of the First Alderman Yves Vander Kreussen. He left on Tuesday, November 24, 2020, after weeks of fighting against Covid-19. In Inuben at Waterloo, Yves Vander Croisen was fully committed to his municipality. “Leave has left a big gap.”
Yves Vander Kreussen has been an alderman since 1991. He also served on the Walloon Brabant Provincial Council for more than 20 years. A key figure in the city of the lion, he had a passion for history with capital X, but also for small local stories. He was heavily involved in organizing the commemoration of the twentieth anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo in 2015. He also created the WaHFF (Waterloo Historical Film Festival) a few years ago.
“Yves’s disappearance leaves a huge void. He is much more than a political figure who has died today, he is a passionate and dedicated citizen. Waterloo is in mourning.”
In Inuben in his hometown, for loveuben in his province, he also signed the book “Walloon Brabant from A to Z”.
