Risk in Google Play: more than half a million Android users have been victims of malicious applications

On mobile cracks which has rivals of iOS and Android has a new episode. What happened? They found in the Google Play series of applications with malware, which were successful in their goal: They were taken over by more than 500 thousand users.

Google's store experienced similar situations on several occasions. With a security cradle, Apple fans say they are safe from these types of vulnerabilities. However, we know that none of the ecosystems is completely safe.

Let's just mention one example, a few days ago we told you about the flaw in the iPhone X that allows you to view the deleted photos. That's true: Google has a long history with malware in its store: among other cleanings, in January they eliminated more than 700 thousand "unlighted" tools.

The cursed number

Superb attention! On this occasion they discovered 13 applications with malicious code on Google Play. These tools (masked as games) were released by the same developer identified on the platform as Louise Pinto.

In March, Google said it had used an AI system that eliminated nearly 40 million potentially dangerous applications (Image: Reuter).

To fix it, some of these applications appeared in the section "Trends", in a prominent space on the platform. Although Google attended the report and eliminated applications with malware, as they said, they affected a significant number of users.

Altogether, these applications were downloaded 560,000 times, according to security expert at this tweet.

Open your eyes

As a security measure, it's interesting to pay attention to some of the features of these applications that, when installed, infected many devices.

They were offered in the store as Android games, with very good graphics and very light weight. Morally? Trust of applications that promise a lot, with "very low price".
