Moto G7 Play: Features. Moto G7 Play: Price. The cheapest Motorola G7

Moto G7 Play is a good inexpensive mobile phone that offers little more than just basics.

This Motorola phone combines a compact design with a very pleasant experience on Android and with relatively good design, performance and battery life for its price (199 dollars).

As usual, Moto G7 Play is the lowest caliber of the Motorola G-Series, although on this occasion the company introduced Moto G7 Power on their mobile phones from 2019.

There are four mobile phones in the series, including Moto G7, G7 Power, G7 Plus and G7 Play. However, Motorola has also launched the Moto G7 Play Special Edition for several markets, increasing RAM to 4GB and storing 64GB, but its price is almost equal to that of the Moto G7 Power – a mobile phone that offers better duration from the battery and has a convenient eyebrow for use.

Generally, the Moto G7 Play is a good phone if you're looking for a very cheap but I think the Motorola G7 Power is generally a better option, offering a more refined design, a longer battery life, and sometimes a slight improvement in performance (although I hope the performance is almost same in the G7 Special Edition).

Improvements to the Moto G7 Play Special Edition

  • 4GB RAM (instead of 2 or 3GB)
  • 64GB storage (instead of 32GB)
  • More expensive: 4,999 Mexican pesos (about $ 265, instead of $ 199) – available mainly in Mexico and Brazil

Design: the simplest Moto G7

Moto G7 Play retains many other features of Motorola's mobile phone, including the company's logo on the back that integrates the fingerprint reader, a circular camera module, and even a nearly pure Android experience – it's a pleasure to use .

However, the Moto G7 Play is the cheapest of all, integrating a very traditional plastic part with a texture that makes you feel relatively safe in your hand.

This Motorola mobile has a power button and a volume control tape on the right, while on the opposite side you are in the SIM card and microSD card tray.

In addition, the upper edge is the traditional hearing aid and the lower edge of the USB-C connector for charging or connecting to a computer.

The Moto G7 Play does not have a bottom or a side speaker, but reproduces the sound through the headphones. That said, the quality is very average.

One of the most positive things about the Moto G7 Play is that it feels comfortable to use with just one hand thanks to its compact size, because it has a 5.7-inch screen.

Something to keep in mind is that the screen has a relatively small slope and a relatively large eyebrow. However, the slopes are the biggest in the series.

The lower edge is the largest of all and you can find there also the Motorola brand printed.

Performance

Moto G7 Play integrates the same processor of the Moto G7 and Moto G7 Power (Snapdragon 632), which is good because in other mobile phones we had very good performance, especially at a price.

Although the Moto G7 Play offers a reliable performance, it sometimes becomes a little slow when you run many applications, and even sometimes the screen does not reveal my touch commands, like other mobile phones.

This may be partly because the Moto G7 Play has 2GB of RAM (in some markets there are 3GB and the limited version has 4GB but significantly increases the price).

However, the interface virtually pure Android allows the overall experience to be very nice and that for $ 199 it is positioned very well on the market.

Battery life

The Moto G7 Play has a 3,000mAh battery, which is very average size and therefore also its battery life.

This "Motorola" handset manages to offer a full working day of use, but it does not have to be a whole day.

In our performance tests, Moto G7 Play has managed to last 15 hours and 30 minutes to play video continuously.

This means that the Moto G7 Play is the G7 with the worst-lasting battery life, followed by the Moto G7 Plus that managed 17 hours in the same test, while the Moto G7 scored 19 hours and the Moto G7 Power achieved just over 23 hours

Compared to other mobile phones, Honor 8X lasted 14 hours and 30 minutes, and Honor 10 Lite lasted 9 hours and 32 minutes.

Cameras

The Moto G7 Power has a 13 megapixel camera with f / 2.0 aperture that captures beautifully fine detailing and colors. In some ways, the performance of the camera is very similar to what Moto G7 Power offers.

In low-light situations, the mobile phone suffers a lot to get good photos, something that is common in all types of mobile phones, but much more in the middle and lower range.
