The Ministry of Health is close to achieving 150,000 rapid tests to detect the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV); Reactive that have an efficiency close to 100% in detecting the virus, which is done in just a few minutes.
This was announced by the Health Secretary Monica Liliana Rangel Martinez, who explained that within the National Day of the Fast Test 2018, the Secretariat conducted a campaign for timely detection across the country, which at the end of October allowed 144,000 tests in the subpoenas and subunits.
"In addition, our program for the care and monitoring of patients with HIV is among the best in the country in care, as nine out of ten patients with this disease maintain low levels of this virus in the blood, which is an institutional achievement," said Monica Liliana Rangel.
He explained that this week they are applying rapid HIV tests in different municipal places in the seven sanitary jurisdictions, reaching the highest number of streams.
In addition, the Ministry of Health added that the tests will be available in the Health units, such as: Health Centers, CAPASITS, General Hospitals and Primary Hospitals in the community.
The benefits of the rapid HIV test are:
1.- Knowing the diagnosis of HIV helps to take preventive measures to avoid transmission.
2.- Timely detection allows the start of treatment with greater success.
3.- This campaign will be careful that any rapid HIV test will have counseling before and after testing, as well as delivering the results of trained and knowledgeable staff to provide escort.
4. A quick test gives us a result with reliability and sensitivity close to 100% in minutes.
People who are recommended to have a quick test of HIV are those who have unprotected sexual practices, people who share needles or other sharp objects or those who have sexually transmitted infection, hepatitis or tuberculosis, those who have made a tattoo or piercing for earrings in any part of their body.
