Durban – For the first time in the history of national senior certification exams in the country, there will be a national transcript of two exams. This comes after both Mathematics Paper 2 and Physical Science Paper 2 leaked two weeks ago.

According to the Minister of Primary Education, Angie Mochegaga, the paper on mathematics will be written on Tuesday, December 15 at 2 pm, and the paper on physical sciences 2 on Thursday, December 17 at 2 pm.

“It was not an easy decision to make, but a decision that is necessary in these circumstances. We need to work hard to deal with the human factor in the examination system. It is clear that the people responsible for issuing the question papers are adults,” she said. he said.

Motshekga said the NSC is the main qualification for schooling. The credibility of the NSC examination is of paramount importance. Any long-standing doubts about the credibility of the NSC exams must be thoroughly investigated and resolved.

“Some of the key findings are that viral dissemination of information on cyber networks makes it virtually impossible to pinpoint the number of students who have access to published question papers,” she said.

Motskega said the DBE is consulting key stakeholders on the issue; from associations of school management bodies, association of school principals, teachers’ unions and quality assurance agency, UMALUSI.

“There was convergence in the need to protect the integrity of the exam and expose the culprits who endanger the lives of our students,” she said.

The minister said the investigation was still ongoing.

One person was arrested for one of the leaks.
