A report published by Knight Frank has reviewed possible transport opportunities to help connect satellite cities and more-established cities.
While highways and railways will remain in the foreseeable future, Virgin HyperLoop One could be looking ahead.
The Hyperloop was originally intended to help passengers go between San Francisco and Los Angeles for half an hour.
A train-like service would be a "cross between the Concorde, the railway and the air hockey table", and can travel at a speed of 1,000 kilometers per hour.
According to Knight Frank, HyperLoop could travel between cities much faster, simultaneously taking pressure off the roads.
Hyperlope vs. Gathering
To see how fast Hyperloop could be in South Africa, we compared its potential speed with Gautrain – a popular alternative for driving between Johannesburg and Pretoria.
The Hyperlouop travel time was taken from her "Road Trip" page. The results are shown below.
