A cook accuses the M-network of plagiarism

Things are heating up in the kitchen of a popular television cooking show, as two amateur cooks are charged with using the cookbook of Nompumelelo Mqwebu without her permission.

The show, My Kitchen reigns in South Africa, which is broadcast on M-Net, has enthusiasts of amateur products that are willing to compete for a cash prize.

Mqwebu, an award-winning chef who just released his book, "Through the eyes of an African chef," told Sowetan that her fans were alerted after last year she had prepared two of her recipes from her book.

She said that the chef's recipes that she used without her permission were amateur dummies and an exquisite dessert she showed to both contestants.

"It's a level of disrespect for me as a professional chef, business woman and author," said Angry Mqwebu.

A spokesman for MultiChoice, Benedict Maga, said the two contestants created their own version of Amazing Hummingbird after they were inspired by McVeue's demonstrations.

"The specific episode focused on African cuisine and the participants were obliged to prepare a meal inspired by African cuisine.

"Competitors have prepared their own version of Amadamba gnaws, albeit inspired by the concept of Amazing Gaming that Ms. Quebu presented," Maga said.
